Our good friends at Maine Preservation (stakeholders of Shaker Village’s 2007 historic preservation easement) have released a wonderful video that we’d like to share. It features the Shaker Barn, Brother Arnold Hadd, our preservation timber framer Arron Sturgis, and more! We hope you will enjoy it and consider supporting Maine Preservation and historic preservation throughout our wonderful state.
Maine’s Harvest & Bounty: Celebrate the Season with Historic Barns, Orchards, and Indigenous Settlements
Shaker music is at the core of Shaker faith and theology.
These 19th century tunes are lively and the songs are so relatable that today Shaker music impacts audiences, congregations, and individuals around the world.
We’re grateful to our friend and American composer Kevin Siegfried (Boston Conservatory at Berklee), the chorale singers of Radiance (Seattle, WA) and the Library of Congress for creating this unique mini-documentary promoting the beauty and relevance of this music within the American experience.
Please join us as our guests for this free-concert with rare commentary from world’s leading Shaker historian, Brother Arnold Hadd, a Sabbathday Lake Shaker since 1978.
