Dyed by Jamie Ribisi-Braley of Auburn, ME, this salvaged antique linen kitchen towel has been given a new life as a lavender pillow. The exquisite hand work of the embroidered design stands out in all of its glory and is stuffed with Shaker lavender and recycled Poly-fil; giving your room a fragrant calming effect while also providing comfort as a usable pillow. The thick yellow line at the top and bottom of the towel transform into a nice green line on the pillow with the blue overdye applied. This not only reduces our textile waste in landfills, but honors and continues a tradition of handmade fiber art for the household. The intricate embroidered butterfly linen runner was cut in half to give an envelope fold cover to each pillow and are paired with cloth napkins that have been acid dyed with Shibori patterns (fold and dye technique). The soft pink dye accentuates the floral embroidery and lacework edges of these pillows stuffed with Shaker lavender and recycled Poly-fil; giving your room a fragrant calming effect while also providing comfort as a usable pillow. The cloth has been acid dyed with Shibori patterns (fold and dye technique) - this give the designs a soft pink on top of the pale yellow linen, overdying the colors of embroidery thread, as well. Backed with a salvaged piece of linen woven yardage. Jamie loves to find handmade pieces that need some love and rescue them. The exquisite hand work of cut hemstitch Irish linen shines through in these pillows stuffed with Shaker lavender and recycled Poly-fil; giving your room a fragrant calming effect while also providing comfort as a usable pillow. The linen was first naturally dyed with butternut from the Shakers' butternut trees and then acid dyed with Shibori patterns (fold and dye technique) - this give the designs a soft blue on top of the natural linen with speckles of brown from the Butternut throughout. Jamie loves to find handmade pieces that need some love and rescue them. This not only reduces our textile waste in landfills, but honors and continues a tradition of handmade fiber art for the household.
