Yellow ware large mug with mochawear in the traditional style, handmade by Ken Henderson of Henderson's Redware in Bangor, Maine. Mochawear is a technique that originated in England in the 18th century and was popular in the 19th century. It consists of dribbling an acidic solution with coloring oxides (manganese) onto a wet slip. The solution spreads in the slip with a tree fern like pattern- all mugs are individual patterns. These mugs are the perfect size for your best cup of coffee or Shaker Tea. Measures approximately 4" in diameter and 4" tall Ken creates museum quality reproductions of earthenware pottery from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries in the Anglo-American tradition. Food safe, oven safe, freezer safe. Aside from its modern, food safe glaze, this pottery is no different than historic yellow ware and is completely functional within the context of its historical usage. Suggested care: Hand wash and dry your pottery thoroughly before using. Your piece will last to become a family heirloom.
