TWO DAY VIRTUAL WORKSHOP
Saturday, April 2, 2022 & Saturday, April 9, 2022

6pm-7:30pm Eastern (3pm Pacific/4pm Mountain)
Virtual Workshop

This will be a 2 part workshop on beginning felt making and appliqué with Shaker Village neighbor and friend Betsey Leslie of Ewes to You Farm in New Gloucester. Have fun, learn something new, create something beautiful, and make friends!  You’ll learn wet felting in the first class session to create your own flat felt blocks.  We’ll let it dry up and set for a week and then meet again in our second class session to cut out our shapes/designs and work on embroidery and applique stitching techniques.  All levels are welcome!

This Heart in Hand design is original and wool is custom dyed for this project by Betsey. The first part of the workshop will be on April 2nd and second part will be on April 9th.  You’ll leave with the skills necessary to complete your applique.

Your kit will include enough materials to make a 13″ x 18.5″ finished applique with plenty material left over to keep felting and working with- it is a very generous supply kit.

  • Nine various colors of 16-gram balls of hand dyed wool (each will make a 9″ block)
  • One 48-gram ball of bronze green hand dyed wool for background large block
  • Felting Stone
  • Two felting needles
  • 4 embroidery floss colors
  • 3 crewel needles
  • 1 block of felting foam
  • bubble wrap
  • netting
  • poster board patterns

You will supply liquid dish detergent, a squeeze bottle, narrow masking tape, extra fine black Sharpie marker, scissors, and measuring tape.
