9am-4pm
On-site / In-person
Working with masterful weaver, Susy Perrine of Woolwich, ME, participants will weave fabric for their choice of a square, round, or bolster pillow. We will weave use T-pins and sturdy cardboard to complete the project.
You will learn to measure and create a loom by pinning yarn to a cardboard ‘loom’ and then weaving your textile. You may weave the front side only and make the pillow backing from fabric you purchase or weave the back as well. We will stitch the two pieces together. For the bolster pillow, one square or rectangle will be woven and two small circles will be woven for each end and then all sewn together. Expect finished size to be 6” to 8” in diameter by 14” – 16” long.
Participants will bring:
–YARN: Choose XXX bulky, T-shirt yarn, or core spun rug yarn.
Yardage:
For one side of a small pillow 12×12” = 20 yards of Core spun rug yarn or 50 yards Malabrigo Rasta (a super bulky yarn)
For one side of a 15×15″ pillow = 30 yards core spun or 75 yards super bulky
(This would be a lot of fun in stripes creating plaids and checks.)
