Learn the fiber art of nuno felting while making a striking and warm wearable collar with Shaker Village neighbor and friend Betsey Leslie of Ewes to You Farm in New Gloucester.

Nuno felt is a fabric felting technique developed by a fiber artist in Australia in the 1990’s. “Nuno” is the Japanese word for cloth.  Learn to bond several layers of loose natural fibers into a sheer loosely woven silk chiffon to create a light-weight felt.  Then we’ll add a layer of beautiful extreme length curls as fringe.

Your kit will include enough materials to make 2 collars.

  • One will be a natural colors of wool- white, grays, and browns.
  • Your second scarf will be in vivid color from your choice of hand-dyed custom wool: Ocean (blues, turquoise, & greens), Forest (greens, browns, & yellow), Sunrise (oranges, pinks & reds), or Sunset (purples, blues, & coral).

You supply dish detergent, a squeeze bottle, and button/closures.

All other materials will be supplied in your kit including: a felting stone, silk chiffon fabric, wool, cashmere, Masham curls, bubble wrap, and nylon netting.
