Learn the basics of needle felting wool and creating 3-dimensional sculptures with Shaker Village neighbor and friend Betsey Leslie of Ewes to You Farm in New Gloucester. Needle felting is the process of transforming wool into 3D objects using a barbed needle. When you felt wool, you’re agitating the fibers so they bond together, creating a solid fabric
In this 3-hour virtual workshop broadcast from Shaker Village, we will create a medium pumpkin, a small silhouette cat pumpkin, and a medium gourd– just in time for Halloween! Each participant will be mailed a full kit of all supplies needed to make these three needle felted sculptures plus the basic tools to keep you going in your felting journey:
- (5) Needles in 3 sizes (36, 38, 40)
- (1) Foam felting block
- (3) 14gr core wool in white
- (1) 14 gr hombre orange wool
- (5) 4 gr wool in brown, deep orange, and red orange
- (3) 2 gr wool in dark brown, brown, and buttercup
- Assorted Masham curls
All the wool is hand-dyed by Betsey, custom made for this workshop and projects. In the virtual class, we will work on the core of all 3 projects and start shading the colors into them.
Be sure to register early so that we can mail your kit out to you in time (local customers may pick-up kits at Shaker Village, just include a note with your order).
This was great fun! Betsy did a wonderful presentation and I am looking forward to the video to further the experience. Do we know when that link will be available?
I just emailed out the link— let me know if you have any trouble receiving the email or accessing the link– thank you!!!!
