Art Enrichment July Kid’s Camp – Ages 8-11

Susan Bevil of Little Artists brings her knowledge and passion for illustration and graphic design to each art project she creates and incorporates lots of materials and techniques. The program focus is on different countries, cultures, festivals, and global artists. Children will be inspired to create amazing art creations and develop new skills. Everyone will have fun, learn a little more about the world and be proud to share their art creations with family & friends! Shaker Village is proud to host this new series of kid’s art classes that bring them closer to nature, exploring their creativity, and working together to grow their ideas.
This is a drop-off event – guardians are welcome to tour Shaker Village and our gardens while class is in session. Bring a book & relax!
This series runs from July 25-29, 2022 from 11:00 am – 12:30pm for kids ages 8-11.
Choose one, two, or all three classes and join the fun at Shaker Village. A special discount is given for signing up for all three in the series.

Butterfly Mobile Art
We will be celebrating Big Beautiful Butterflies! There are many kinds of butterflies and celebrations around the world. Susan will take the class on a fun art journey, and everyone will create a magnificent Butterfly Mobile. Susan will provide markers, paint sticks, colored tissue papers, glue, silk cord, paper flowers, sequins, and pretty beads to create our butterfly. It will be attached to a branch and can be hung. It will be fun and very colorful! Please bring water bottle and small snack if you like.

Tree of Life Sculpture
A special symbol of personal growth, strength, and beauty. The Tree of Life is seen in all kinds of Art in different cultures around the world. It represents the idea that all life on earth is connected. Susan will guide students to create their cardboard sculpture of a large tree that will be glued on a base with branches and dot painted leaves. Materials provided will include a cardboard base, cardboard trunk, branches, extra cardboard for cutting, round cardboard shapes for leaves, tempera paints, pencil eraser for dot painting and glue. Please bring water bottle and small snack if you like.

Painted Paper Weaving to Hang
Weaving is an ancient form of art, started thousands of years ago in Asia and created in different forms all over the world! Weavings are all unique, and all beautiful! We will discuss and see samples of Japanese, Native American, Danish, African- (Kente Cloth) and American Weavings in class. Materials provided include watercolor papers, watercolor paints, scissors, card stock background, glue, and extra paper for creating a handle to hang. Extra materials offered may include- feathers, piper cleaners, ribbons, textured papers. Please bring water bottle and small snack if you like.
Susan is a creative and fun NY Art Educator/Mixed Media Artist and new resident of Poland, Maine. A graduate of Fashion Institute of Technology and School of Visual Arts in NYC, Susan has over 20 years experience teaching her unique Art Enrichment Program, called “Global Art Adventure” for children ages 4-11.
