There are several views of the Community included. This pamphlet was designed and photographed by Br. Delmer Wilson. [Facsimile reprint of the 1864 edition] This catalog, originally issued here at Sabbathday Lake, contains the common names, botanical names, synonyms and properties of 155 herbs. This pamphlet was first issued in 1790 and provided the first theological treatise written by the Shakers. This edition originally appeared in the Shaker Quarterly in 1963, with an introduction penned by Brother Theodore Johnson. The book contains a series of letters and essays on the life and faith of Believers. The author was brought up at Sabbathday Lake from infancy. She served in many positions of trust including caretaker for the girls, schoolteacher for over twenty years, Second Eldress, Trustee and frequent lecturer on the Shakers. The text is augmented by thirty-five photographs. (146 pp., illustrations, cloth) $17.95 Book Image Moriarty, Kathleen - A Shaker Sampler Coloring Book. Conceived as an educational tool this book brings children through the alphabet while at the same time bringing out many aspects of Shaker life and provides 30 illustrations for coloring. This hymnal remains in constant use here at Sabbathday Lake for public worship services. The bindings are reinforced to guarantee many years of use.
